Shopify is currently in Beta testing.

If you are interested in more information about Ascend and Shopify Integration, please contact the Ascend Business Development Team, sales@ascendrms.com.

At this time, the logic is not built into Ascend to process Shopify Returns automatically. You will have to process the return through Ascend and through your Shopify Admin to issue a remote refund for returned items.

Note: If items are returned to your store and customer is present with their credit card, you can process the return as normal.

  1. Create a return using either the Return button on the transaction toolbar or the Return icon on the Desktop. Article: Sales - Create a Return
  2. On the Previous Sales Item dialog box, scan or enter the original transaction’s barcode.
  3. Select the items being returned and click the Add button.
  4. A prompt to give a refund to the original customer appears. Select Yes. If you select No, you will need to attach a different customer to the transaction.
  5. Once a customer is selected, the transaction screen opens.
    1. If you used the Previous Sales Items window, the original price is automatically applied to the product, and the product has a negative quantity.
    2. If you did not scan the original receipt, you will need to add the product(s) being returned to the sale. Scan the product into the sale. Ascend automatically gives the item(s) a negative quantity.
    3. The price that appears, though, may not be totally accurate for your customer. Ascend fills in the lowest price - including On Sale prices - the product was ever sold for, to avoid fraud. You can update the price if needed.
  6. Once product(s) are attached to the Return, you'll notice that the Balance shows up in parentheses, indicating a negative balance, such as (49.99). This means that money is 'leaving' your store and being given back to the customer.
  7. Select the eCommerce payment and specific Card Type from the dropdown.
    1. Note: If the customer is present, you can refund the customer through the appropriate payment.
  8. Click Save.

Remote Refund

If you need to issue a remote refund (customer/card not present for the return) you will also need to create the return in Shopify and issue the customer's refund.
