Ascend brings you seamless integration so you can continue to offer your customers exceptional hospitality without a lot of extra work.

And as an extra bonus – authorized Trek dealers in select markets can display their product availability and take customer orders directly from Trek’s website!

For details on Trek’s integration with Locally, see the B2B article.

Locally FAQs

Q: What is Locally?

A: Locally is a third-party online platform that allows retailers to display and sell from their in-store inventories to local shoppers on locally.com, your own website, social channels, and brand sites.

Q: Why should I use Locally?

A: Locally is the world's top online-to-offline shopping solution. It's designed to help retailers reach more online shoppers from their area and uses its digital tools to show those customers a retailer's inventory, removing a major barrier to purchase and driving more in-store traffic.

Aftermarket products from companies not partnered with Locally will continue display via the existing inventory sync process.

Q: What are BOPIS and ROPIS?

A: BOPIS and ROPIS are two ways in which customers can order items from your inventory. Both require customers to pick up their products at your store.

  • BOPIS stands for buy online, pick up in store and allows retailers to accept full payment online for in-stock merchandise.
  • ROPIS stands for reserve online, pay in store and allows customers to reserve in-stock items for 24 hours with payment due in-store at pick-up.

Q: Do any other brands that I sell use Locally?

A: View all Locally’s participating brands via the link below. See participating brands

Q: Can I embed the locally on my own website.

A: Installing Locally Pages on your own website is as easy as copy/pasting a snippet of code into your site, like dropping in a YouTube video.  You can show inventory by brand, or by category, or by location.  Click here for instructions.

Q: Do I have to sell all my brands via Locally?

A: No. Retailers can choose not to sell particular brands by removing UPCs from their inventory feed before transmitting data to Locally.

Q: What if I already use Locally?

A: Great! That means you’ve already claimed your Locally account, but you may still need to connect your inventory for it to be displayed on trekbikes.com. Before you proceed, make sure you know which stage of the Locally set-up process you’re at.

Q: Why is this good for the consumer?

A: By posting and selling from your inventory online, you're removing a customer's barrier to purchase and are meeting them where they're currently shopping.

Stripe FAQs

Q: How much does Locally’s service cost?

A: Retailers pay a 3.5% commission fee, plus a Stripe credit card processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 for BOPIS transactions. Retailers pay a 3.5% commission fee for ROPIS transactions. Retailers are only charged if the sale is completed. There are no other fees.

Q: How am I charged for the 3.5% commission fee?

A: Retailers will be charged monthly via the credit card they’ve added to their Buy It Locally setup settings.

Q: Can I use my existing payment processor for BOPIS transactions instead of Stripe?

A: No. To enable BOPIS transactions with Locally, retailers must connect a Stripe account for payment processing.

Q: Does the 3.5% fee apply to both BOPIS and ROPIS transactions?

A: Yes, but only if the sale is completed or automatically cancelled and only for the items purchased or reserved by customers online. Additional in-store sales are part of Locally's value to your retail business and do not incur a fee.

Q: How am I charged for the fees?

A: An invoice for the Locally fee is generated monthly for all successful transactions for the previous month and charged to the credit card on file. Stripe's fee is incurred within each transaction and is automatically deducted before the funds are deposited into your account.

Q: Are fees refunded when orders made through Locally are returned or partially refunded?

A: Locally returns the 3.5% commission fee for returned BOPIS orders. For partial refunds, sales tax is automatically adjusted, and the appropriate amount is refunded. The full sales tax amount is automatically refunded when you issue a full refund.

Refunds use your available Stripe balance—this doesn’t include any pending balance. If your available balance doesn’t cover the amount of the refund, Stripe debits the remaining amount from your bank account.

If Stripe can’t debit the remaining amount from your bank account, your refunds may go into a pending status until you add funds to your Stripe balance.

Stripe charges no fees to refund a charge, but the fees from the original charge aren’t returned.

Q: Why is Locally collecting and remitting sales tax for BOPIS transactions?

A: It’s the law. Marketplaces like Locally are required to collect and remit taxes for all transactions completed on their sites.
